Key Responsibilities 
  • Reviews financial forecasts and performance with management personnel and plays an active part in the financial management of the Group.
  • Oversees the timely preparation and production of accurate consolidated financial reporting for the group and all other associated entities including Flash reports and Group consolidated management accounts (covering P&L, Balance sheet and Cashflow) as well as the production of all externally required reporting packs.
  • Has direct responsibility for certain legal entities in the wider Group due to links to the CEO.
  • Responsible to lead a team of three with 1 Financial Controller, 1 Management Accountant and 1 Assistant Management Accountant. Handling their objective setting, performance management and maintaining high levels of engagement and morale within the team.
  • Day to day management of 12 legal entities.
  • Provision of any required analysis and commentary on any financial matters on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Play the lead role in the production of year end accounts, preparation for the audit and the smooth running of the audit process with our external auditors and act as the main point of contact on this process.
  • Responsibility with support from the team in the management and maintenance of well-maintained and supported ledgers across all group companies.
  • Completing and compiling the Group wide VAT returns and assisting in any other HMRC matters or with other external parties (PAYE, VAT, CT and R&D).
  • Has responsibility for the preparation alongside HR and the processing of the Groups monthly payrolls (x 4/5 separate payrolls at present).
  • Preparation and maintenance of the Groups bonus policy and calculations.
  • Assists in the preparation of regulatory reporting for the Group alongside the Compliance team.
  • Acts as the Company Secretary and maintains all requirements for all legal entities at Companies House.
  • Assisting the Group CFO in the continual improvement of financial processes across the group.
  • Responsibility for the continual professional development and training of the junior members of the team.
  • Responsibility for the monitoring and maintenance of the whole Group wide cashflow forecast and cashflow management, always ensuring tight and sound control including driving the finance teams credit control process and supplier payment runs with support from the wider team.
  • Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls as needed.
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Liaises with as required the external auditors, HMRC and bankers and acts as the key person for the day-to-day management of the systems in place for these.

Essential Skills
  • Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role in a multi company SME group environment with experience of consolidations in a complex group structure.
  • Highly organised with the ability to utilise autonomy to manage a busy daily workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and good at finding solutions and being able to articulate these to non-finance staff.
  • Ability to manage both up and down the business structure.
  • Experience of training, mentoring, and leading a team and a team player.
  • Confident communicator, experienced in dealing with Board and director level groups.
  • Experience and confidence using Sage and Microsoft packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be flexible, adaptable with a can-do attitude and willing to learn and develop, excellent attention to detail and methodical.
  • An effective leader who will contribute positively to and help shape our company culture.

Desirable Skills 
  • Experience of regulated reporting environments and associated reporting needed.
